If we’re trying to not let the gospel get diluted or polluted with all kinds of other influences, at the end of the day we have to trust that the Holy Spirit will guide us.

Fresh Music Friday #5

We all love music, especially discovering new music. Here is where we share the freshest, most original, and impactful music we know of. Maybe the best band you heard this week performed alternative folk, metalcore, pop, or funk music. The genre spectrum is wide, so let’s share and experience variation!

I’ve been on a big worship music streak lately. I guess I’ve needed it to keep my spirits up, but I’ve really enjoyed finding some new favorite artists and bands. This week’s Fresh Music Friday artist is Carlos Whittaker.

Carlos is more than a passionate worship music leader, he literally heads up all creative media at Buckhead Church in Atlanta, home of well known pastor and communicator Andy Stanley. Carlos also regularly maintains his blog Ragamuffin Soul which is always updated with everything from deep questions the Church needs to be facing to funny stories (and video) of him getting pulled over for speeding tickets.

Whittaker has a full length album coming out in March, but for now you can pick up his 3 song EP on the iTunes Store. Do it. I definitely love it.

Check him out on his MySpace, Twitter, and blog.

Also, comment below, and tell me about some new music you’ve stumbled upon recently. Don’t be shy!

What if faith were more like earth than a building? What if faith could never be stable in the way God intends it to be if it didn’t have forward momentum and if that momentum weren’t in the field of the gravity of God himself? And if you don’t like that metaphor, think of a bird in flight or a bicycle or a ship on the sea. In each case, there’s movement in relation to some larger forces and realities. Stability comes through an interplay of those factors. Stability is not always as simple as a static building sitting on a solid foundation.
